Environment description:-
This story is in the year 2040. There are no countries or states. The earth is a united Planet. People don’t differentiate in cast, colour, looks, skin or race but they differentiate by social and economical status. This world is a fully automated world, with cars speeding away on the virtual highways in the sky. Robots are a daily part of ones life. This is the age of holographic displays. Instead of money people have a virtual credit system. Things like a personal mobile atomic generator’s are readily available in general stores. Cars don’t have staring wheals but instead they have an AI which navigates the car using GPRS. There are no solid doors or windows, instead there are Nano lairs which serve as a solid wall to protect from unwanted intruders but at the same time let the very essential fresh air pass through. They can be made opaque for privacy, transparent to look out and can also display any kind of seen or weather according to the mood.
Story:-
Cosmos play
Has any one seen the future…..? I have.
What I am about to tell you is a true story that took place in the future year 2040
As evolution would have had it, man and his machine both evolved with time.
This story is not of evolution of man and his machine but of a 9 year old kid named Orion. He is a middleclass kid living in the suburbs of a city because his father cannot afford a city lifestyle. Orion’s brain evolved faster then other kids in school. He is a genius with a very scientific bent of mind. He has a constant hunger for knowledge. His insatiable hunger for knowledge is only surpassed by his fascination for the stars and the mysteries they hold. His room looks like a laboratory full many puzzles, electronic devices (mostly his own inventions) and scientific equipment that his father brought for him to experiment with (father is a scientist). His father keeps giving him these gadgets to cover-up for not being able to be with him most of the time as he is a very busy astronomer working with the government in studying the recent strange things happening around the Earth. Orion being ambitious, dreams of becoming just like his father, an influential, smart and a popular scientist because that's what he thinks his father is. In-fact his father is quite junior in the rung, an assistant astronomer. What ever may be his position, for Orion his father is a hero. His father tries all he can to support him and provide the best to fulfil his need to learn and invent, fuelling his imagination and creativity.
At the tender age of nine Orion finishes his schooling ahead of all the other kids of his age. Seeing his untapped potential going to waist in a small town school, the Principal of the school refers Orion to a reputed City College. Seeing that his kid is special, Orion's father takes the principal's advice and decides to send him to the college in the big city for better education and for proper utilisation of his talents.
On his way to the new college he gets the glimpse of the city for the first time and gets fascinated seeing the big buildings, modern gadgets and latest vehicles. Seeing all this he dreams that he is on his way to becoming an influential person that he thought his father is.
In no time, he proves his intelligence by being much better and smarter then the other students in the college. But unlike his small town school where he was praised and idolised for his knowledge and intelligence by the students and his teachers, here in the city college he is thought to be a low class show off intimidating all the older kids who take perverse pleasure in bullying him. They start treating him as an outcast and is constantly picked on by one and all. Soon all students despise him and the teachers ignore him. Every one abuses him, gangs up against him, finding smallest of excuses to pick a fight and beat him up. But to his surprise he discovers that he has an admirer. A girl from his class who had been noticing him since the first time he joined the college. She admires him for his brilliance and talent. She feels bad when other kids bully him and always tries to support him and help him when he is down, but Orion’s pride and ego stops him from accepting her offers. She being a shy kind of person is not able to express her feelings towards him and tell him how highly she thinks of him. Her name is………..(Eliana)
One day, when all the name calling and bullying becomes too much for him to bear he in utter frustration flees from the college and runs into the city for shelter.
Life in the city is a fast and furious, no one ever has the time to stand and gaze on the marvel that they have built. To his amazement he finds that here either you move with the crowd or get out of the way. Not used to the ways of the city life he gets yelled at and pushed around by the people. Deafening noise, chaos and not so friendly attitude of the people of the city compounds his frustration. Totally confused and agitated, unable to adjust, once again he is forced to run away.
In the process of trying to escape all this, he lands up in one of the many dingy alleys of the city. A place which is totally opposite to what the city is like. Here nothing is organised, people fight with each other rummaging for food in the garbage with drunken beggars lying all over on the ground moaning.
The alley is a creepy place. In the process to escape the confusion of the city life, he has run so deep inside this labyrinth that he is not able to find his way out of it. He has no choice but to explore his way out of here. The more he explores the more he gets lost. This scares him. A sudden bright light and the noise of a siren frightens him so much that he blindly starts running like a crazy person. Finally he manages to dodge the siren and the light. Frightened, scared out of his wits and totally exhausted he curls up into a quite corner and starts crying. This trip on the emotional rollercoaster has become too much for him. He just wants to go home, his small town in the comfort of the arms of his father. After a while he calms down and gathers up the courage to leave and find his way home, he cleans his glassed and wipes his tears to see where he is. He sees himself in a small ruin near a scrap yard just outside the city. Exhausted he goes off to sleep.
Next morning, when he wakes up he starts exploring his surroundings. On inspecting the ruin closely he finds ancient engravings on the wall. Fascinated by them, he starts studying them. Soon his curiosity to decipher what it means absorbs him completely making him forget all his frustrations and the ordeal he had gone through. His brain goes into overdrive trying to decipher the meaning of these engravings. With the help of the engravings he finds a hidden stone with more engravings written in some unknown language and a dirty metallic ball having symmetrical groves with defined shapes.
Soon he hears the distant voice of his father calling his name and searching for him with the help of the authorities. Glad to hear his father's voice he happily runs into the safety of his arms.
He tries to tell his father about his find and shows him the stone and the ball. But his father doesn't take him seriously thinking that he is narrating one of his childish adventure fantasies. Angry with Orion, he scolds him and tells him never to do such a thing again and then takes off for work after dropping him to the safety of their house. At home Orion gazes at the ball trying to study it but is not able to figure out anything. So he tosses the ball aside and shifts his attention to the engravings on the stone, after studying them for a while he at last figures out that they are a blueprint to design something and the stone is actually an energy stone which is an integral part of that design.
Obscured from Orion something starts happening to the ball which he had tossed aside. Electricity starts running through its grooves making it move and take shape. The ball is transformed into a robot.
Un aware of this Robot transformation Orion is excited of deciphering the design, full of enthusiasm overcoming his fear of the city and against the wishes of his father, he decides to go back to the scrap yard ruins to make the copy of the engravings which he successfully deciphers completely.
Not wasting any more time he quickly gets to work in gathering what ever is required to construct the device. After a few days and many failed attempts in assembling the complicated parts of the machine, he realised that the blueprint engravings that he copied from the stone were incomplete. Nature had taken its toll on the stone. Some part of the stone had weathered away leaving the blueprint design incomplete. Loosing hope he goes to sleep and to his college the next day. When he returns home, he is astonished to see the missing part of the design in place. With curiosity he looks around in his room to see if anything is out of place, but notices nothing. Happy that he can continue with his project he gets to work with a nagging doubt as to who could have helped him in putting the missing pieces in place. To identify the mysterious person he deliberately leaves one of the parts of his machine unfinished and acts as if he is leaving, but goes and hides behind the door. After a while he notices some one coming out of the shadows to work on the unfinished part. He pounces out from behind thus surprising the robot and scaring it back into the shape of a ball. Seeing that the individual was a robot now turned into a ball he is scared because he has no clue about it’s capabilities and intentions.. But then he notices that the ball is scared of him too. Soon he makes friends with the ball (robot) and finds out that the ball (robot) can provide him with the missing pieces. With its help he starts off with his project.
Hours turn into days and days to months. Finally after more then a year he finishes his project. He finds that he has created a miniature world which he can control completely. Proud of what he has made he rejoices and congratulates himself. He is happy to have made the world with all the stars and the planets. He is able to study different phenomena's of the world in detail. Using a special device he can get anywhere into his world where a phenomenon is taking place and with the power of manipulation by altering certain parameters he could change the outcome of the phenomenon thus being able to study and analyse them better than any of the top scientists of the world. While on one of his routine inspections of his creation he spots a planet having suitable conditions to support life forms. On inspecting it closely he notices to his amazement that the planet is already inhabited with a technologically advanced life form. He sets himself to do experiments on it.
In the mean time on his father’s insistence he continues attending his college. The scenario there has not changed at all. Others attitude towards him remains the same and he is meted out with the same treatment and harassment. Some time passes, then one day the frustration caused due to the constant bullying and name calling becomes too much. He returns from the college irritated and angry. In his anger be starts meddling with the world he had created by making artificial meteorites fall on the inhabited planet he causes natural catastrophes. The robot tries to stop him but to no avail. Orion does all this to take out his frustration. But he sees that the superior life form inhabiting that planet is able to recover and counter his every attack. This adds to his frustration making him intensify his attacks. He attacks their planet with small lasers making it look like an alien invasion. He does all this to feel the pleasure of being the bully and to make others suffer the way he has suffered. To view the extent of misery caused by him up close, he enters the planet in the world created by him. While inspecting the damage caused by him, he is spotted by one of the law enforcement agencies of that planet. He is recognised as an alien threat that had been attacking and chased. He starts to run and hide from them. In the process of hiding from them he gets into the basement of a house through its window. As his eyes focus and adjust to the darkness in the basement he sees a shiny object which looks like his energy stone but of a different colour. To see it more clearly he turns on the light and sees the same kind of apparatus which he had made back home. He also sees another completed world with the apparatus. Surprised that there is another world in the world he created he goes near to study it. Looking at it carefully the sees the same kind of constellations and galaxies that he was taught in school, the same kind that belong to his world. Could this mean that someone has made a duplicate model of his world? Suspicious he studies the earth in the model of his world closely using a probe. There he sees the same kind of countries and situations that presently exist in the real earth. While trying to quench his curiosity he hears footsteps, he rushes to finds the nearest safe spot to duck and hide. From there he sees another frustrated alien kid who enters his basement and starts meddling with the model of his world. Seeing this he hurries out from his hiding spot and stops him. Both are surprised to see each other at first but then the surprise turns into curiosity. Both discuss each others stories and find out about them selves. Orion realises that the alien kids father was an astronaut who has been missing in action trying to protect the planet since the first attack made by him and also that these devices were not artificial worlds created by them but inter world gateways used by the ancient life forms to travel transport and to keep an eye on others worlds. Both of them realise that it was because of their own actions caused due to their frustration that they both got separated from their fathers. Orion's father was all the time busy in his lab and the alien kid's father was missing in action. Filled with regret for what Orion had done to the alien kid and his world he promises to help him make things better in his world and to find his father and return him back home to where he belongs. They both go back to Orion’s world using the alien kid's invention. After finding the alien kid's father and returning him back to the kid's world he is requested by the alien kid to destroy the device to prevent him from doing any more harm. Having repented for his doings, he says his final goodbyes to the alien kid and returns back to the earth. He destroys the machine but keeps the stone. After a day things start getting worst instead of getting better. News hits the network that the earth has for no reason started going towards the sun. Every one goes into a state of helpless panic. But Orion somehow knows that the alien kid is responsible for this. But Orion had already destroyed his machine and knew that he couldn't create another one in time without help so he tries to tell his dad about this and tries to convince him that what ever he said was real by showing him the metallic ball and asking it to change its shape. But the ball doesn’t change its shape. His dad who is in no mood for childish fantasies in a crisis like this, scolds him. In the critical moment of earths decent in to the sun everyone had given up hope except Orion. But Orion was helpless He tries to convince his father and the other seniors to help him to builds the machine again but this is not an easy task. The same girl got to know bout
the situation & makes her dad(senior scientist) understand that now when there is no hope then why not experiment by giving chance to Orion. She finally succeeds in convincing her dad. With the help of space-science department Orion is able to build the way to
alien kid's universe again. Using it he and his father go to the alien kid asking him to
stop this madness. When they asked him why he did it, he replied that
he wanted to help Orion better his life. Confused and angry Orion enquires, how would destroying the earth could help him improve his life and get rid of his frustrations. The alien kid replies with a mysterious smile "you'll find out soon". After returning everything back to normal the alien kid asks them to return. After returning back to earth using the alien kids device they see everyone applauding them and congratulating them for saving the Earth.. All these accolades are followed by phone call from the president of the Earth. Soon they were seen on the news all over the world standing with the president and other celebrities as the father son pair who saved the world (the heroes of the world). Orion's father gets promoted and becomes the scientific advisor to the president and is
given his own department to run. Orion becomes popular in his college and is named the Boy Hero of Earth.
Alien Kid's Name Is Elusious.
